X-Stream Mini Future Glider - 5 inch double pack
The 5 inch Mini X-Stream Future Glider comes in a twin pack. These gliders are only 5 inches long but they are capable of flights over 30 yards!
The Xstream nd related toy industry products are based on the Internal Wing Aircraft (IWA) technology, which is a design that generates extraordinary lift and thrust by the action of air moving through a shaped duct. The technology and multiple applications related to aerospace designs are covered under U.S. Patents 4,568,042 and 4,579,300 as well as current patent pending.
The Internal Wing Aircraft (IWA) was invented by Robert Carr to capture energy wasted by conventional aircraft wings. Although at first the design looks like a futuristic tri-plane, it is actually a shaped duct with three parts. The coanda (front), directs airflow over the internal wing (bottom), and compresses it with the airflow already there.
The duct separates the airflow inside from that outside and helps to maintain a low pressure over the wing, which is the basis for lift in all aircraft. As a unique side effect of the placement of the ‘wings,’ a phenomenon we have coined DNP, or Dynamic Natural Propulsion, creates thrust.
This design eliminates much of the wasted energy and drag resulting in a more efficient wing. The DNP effect also works in water by converting the buoyancy into thrust which effectively propels the object though water, making Internal Wing Technology ideal for pool toys and flying toys alike. The Internal Wing configuration can be scaled to maximize speed and or lift and applied to anything from toy gliders, pool toys, to large cargo and jet aircraft.
IWA Toy Company is presently manufacturing the IWA Xstream Future Glider, which is available in three sizes. The largest version, the X15 Ultra Xstream Glider, is launched by a hand toss resulting in flights from 40 to 80 yards. The X9 Xstream Glider and the X5 Xstream Gliders both have built in launchers which make them extremely easy to launch and fly. All of the gliders are constructed from EVA, a very soft and durable foam.
Expansion of the current line of toys will be occurring in the near future. Plans include radio controlled models of the Xstream Glider along with radio-controlled cars utilizing the DNP aspect of the design for propulsion as well as the ability to jump. The RC models will in theory exhibit vertical take-off and landing along with a stunning hovering option. Also, a variety of under-water toys are currently being discussed in our design department.
